Highway 190 is closed near mile marker 15 because of a brush fire, according to the Hawaii County Police Department.

Traffic heading north on Highway 190, also known as Mamalahoa Highway, must detour to Queen Kaahumanu Highway via Kaiminani Drive in North Kona, according to police. Southbound traffic on the highway will be detoured via Waikoloa Road and the old Saddle Road.

Police expect the closure to remain in effect for about two hours while police and fire crews are on the scene.
